In the class we will stitch a small folk doll which celebrates the beauty and joy of summer, taking inspiration from the surrounding seasonal nature. We will embroider motifs and patterns which give a narrative and magic to the character.
Alongside the doll students can learn and refine different stitches with a small sampler, ensuring that they are confident with all the techniques used for the doll. There will be the option to follow a specific pattern that I have created, or create and personalise your own design. If following the pattern, full instructions and reference images will be provided.
The class is suitable for beginners and intermediates, please note that the scale of the embroidery is fairly small.
Materials
Materials for the class include, printed and plain calico fabric, stranded cotton threads, metallic threads, wool threads, pins, needles, embroidery hoop and wool stuffing. The cost is £25.00.
ABOUT MEGAN
Megan is a pattern designer, illustrator and embroiderer who studied her Bachelor’s degree at Falmouth University and is now based in the green, glorious Hampshire countryside. She harbours an ardent passion for the beautiful and unusual, and is inspired by whimsical fairy-tales and folk costumes from around the world, and calm ambles through forests and fields.
Her work is a concoction of tenderness, gentility and intricacy. Her stitches tell stories; as a trained illustrator, as well as using a pen or pencil, she uses needle and thread to create captivating characters and little companions for everyday life.
